The region’s first learning lab for adult students seeking careers in pharmaceutical and bioscience manufacturing was unveiled Tuesday at Butler Tech’s Monroe campus.

The city’s Commerce Department carved out workforce training funds to enable CCP students to earn $15 an hour during a cell and gene therapy industry lab technician certificate program.

LabCorp has hired 24 individuals since the inception of the JFK Lab Assistant Training Program in 2007. LabCorp also assists with interview preparation, company tours and internships for students.
